and i think anyone can view the gallery thing, but those are bad pics too. the pic below is one from the gallery..

picture.php

this pic is relevant to this thread as it requires relocation of my hanger and shackle hanger brackets to allow the construction of fore and aft wheel tool/battery boxes below the deck. i will incorporate stock type springs initially and later go to a 63 type spring. eventually i may go to a cantilever coilover type setup with bags for heavy loads on the side rails.

I think you should take some good pictures and post up a little thread of your rig. Poser pics are okay :)

i might be a little late to the party on this topic, but i figured what the hey.

i know its not a ranger, but its a ford....

The guys on race-dezert said the shackle flip and 64" chev's would give me more travel for high speed running. is this true?

The truck is a 89 ford f-150.

Ok. Since I'm a N00B to RBV's I need schooled. What would JUST 88-98 1/2 Ton C/K springs give in terms of lift? If I am understanding correctly the very first post on this topic claims 1.5". Is this realistic or is the 3" stated in the Tech Library more realistic? I'm very interested in this as I can score a set of springs for virtually nothing. PLEASE LMK!

P.S.
If it is indeed 3", how do I get the front my 2wd up to match it? I dont think 2" coil spacers will be up to par unless I wanted a super rake!

Just using my brain which doesn't have much truck tech but, I would guess that with the flipped 64 springs and belltech 6400 shackles, can't you just pick which hole you wanna run leaf end into? It looks like from photo, a inch diff between holes? Mine haven't arrived yet but tomorrow they will, just installing for now. I need to find a shop that can re-arch the leaves when I getem them. Then I'll play hole drill and temping front most shackle hanger. And turn upside down rear shackle hanger. My front most shackle mount looks like it has round ended bolts or something on outside. Did you guys all have to cut these and buy new grade 5, 8 bolts? Just curious. I got this all planned for rear and not a frigging clue what to do to felt besides a new torsion bar key and some cracking. I don't wanna buy the 4 inch lift kit for my 99 for 1500. Just need a good lift bracket that won't break easy. Cause of plow trucks in mass, there are the random 2 foot ripped open road holes I don't always catch in time. Id feel retarded buying fiberwerx f150 conversion front end without a 302 and a nice suspension. I just wanna run some nice dirt trails. No rocks for this boy.

1.5 inches is if you do only 1 shackle per side. Order 2 sets of the belltech 6400 and it's more like 2. Leaves... Idk. I'll tell you when I getem and re archem and flip hangers. Maybe I'll see if I can makem fit without extending where shackle is mounted.

If you rea tech library the end of article shows u photo showing desert racers use that setup. For softer/ more travel. So much in tech library under suspension part.

Just got done doing The Shackle Flip on a 99 4x4 Standard cab Flare side. Front wheel opening were at 4.5" opening and all i've done is 33" tires and cranked the torsion bars a little.

Being Flareside i just removed the sides which was nice. I removed the Rear Bumper and trailer hitch...They will not go back on.

In the rear I measure 5" of wheel opening starting. I installed Chevy C1500 springs with the overload still on. I moved the front bracket forward 1 lower mounting hole. I removed the 4x4 block. I trimmed the lower frame rail 9" forward from the rear to make it flat. Added a 2"x2" piece of thick angle iron and welded it on.

I added 99 Ford F-150 hangers and bolted everything together with 1/2" bolts. I used Belltech 6400 hanger. I had to stack about 6... 1/2" washers under the nuts to tighten the u-bolts up .

Junk yard springs $107
Napa bushing for JY springs $34
Belltech 6400 $64
Dorman hangers 722-003 $40
Various supplies-nuts, bolts, consumables $50

$300 Bucks total...I need to get some Longer bodies and shafts for my RR FOX's.

Right after setting it down and tooling around the neighborhood it sat at 5" like it started and then i drove about 50 mi down some rough country roads and it looks to have settled at 4.5" Im mostly happy with it...It feels like it has a little load in it. I have picked up a vibration though. I wonder if the pinion angle is off.

That my two cents, See ya later

P.S. my springs only measured 62" eye to eye

Thanks for posting.
Can you clarify the part application; Dorman 722-003 - $40.00 When I did some research for a similar swap as what you did, I came up with a different part number and price for the 1997 f-150 and up spring hanger. In fact I had a hard time finding any hangers for under C$350.00 when I did the research. A quick search just now shows hangers for '97 up f-150 at ~ $200.00.
The part # you have given shows up as a replacement for earlier year [eg; 1991] Rangers.

I purchased them off ebay, thru the summit racing website...I just made a guess and hoped they were gonna work. They did...If you go to summitracing.com and type the part number in they come up for $15 each

They may have been for earlier trucks but im pretty sure i remember looking under my dads 99 f-150 and thinking those will work good...Further looking around netted me these with the hopes that i could make them work and they did.

Actually no typing required...Just clicky the linky... http://www.summitracing.com/parts/RNB-722-003/

ok so if i just get stock 64s and beltechs i will get 5 inches of lift?

how much lift will i get if i get 5.5 inch lift 64s

Stock 63's, stock 4x4 block and an extended shackle, i'm sitting at around 5 to 5.5" lift.

i hate having blocks in the rear and little flex so i ordered some shackles. now i just got to get some 63 leafs. so if im correct 1.5(leaf)+1.5(shackle)+stock block=5 inches of lift? also how will the ride be?

thanks

i'm so confused about this 64" swap....
i have a 99 2wd prerunner with the camburg 5.5 mid travel kit.
stock rear leafs.
i want the rear to sit 1-2 inches higher than stock and want to gain travel and want to do it all on a budget of $300.
what parts do i get?
where do i get them?
how do i install them?

Also is there any other option i should look into with my $300 budget?

THANKS!
