i have a 1996 chevy 1500 with a vortec 5.7 liter v8.My problem is everytime i let it sit overnight without starting it won't start up in the morning without turning the ignition off and on a couple of times.its like the gas isent staying up at the engine and all of it is going back to the fuel tank. What could cause the fuel to go back to the tank after a long period of sitting?and what could caue this ive changed the fuel filter and turned the ignition on with the fuel line off and plennty of gas comes out so fuel pump and fuel filter are good.I am thinking its either the fuel pressure regulator or the fuel injectors can anyone tell me where the fuel pressure regulator is located and what you would do first?

i believe theres a thing in the fuel pump that does that that could have went bad you'll probly have to replace the fuel pump

yeah, check valve in pump is a potential besides the fpr and injectors leaking..

ok thanks for the help i think i will end up putting a new pump in it because my mechanic also thinks that could be the problem.

A stuck open injector will show up on the spark plug.
See if one is different than the others, color-wise, etc.
Your oil will smell gassy too because it washes past the rings as it sits and leaks into that cylinder.

Fuel pump is next on the list if it has the checkvalve. Most do. <<$$
