Hello my name is Shawn and I have a 99 Ford 4WD Ranger with a 3.0 with 175,000 miles. I am hearing a cherping sound coming from inbetween the trans and the motor from under the truck the cherping changes when I step on the gas but the cherping doesnt get any louder or speed up. Does anyone on here have any suggestion?

Thank you

Shawn

Standard or auto? Does it cherp all the time?

It's spelled "chirp" guys.

Ah, I'm glad someone corrected that...I was beginning to think maybe...just maybe...the chirping under my hood was actually Cher pinging me looking for an open port in the storm sewer...

Anyway...chirping can be caused by a number of things...if it is upon startup and higher revolutions of the engine then it might be your serpent is being rubbed the wrong way...

True, chirp is in the dictionary as something birds do. For me, cherp is a lower-pitched chirp....like mechanical rather than high-pitched like a belt. Just sayin...

Man....you all make me want to sing an old 70's song...Little Baby bird, where's your mommy gone? Chirpy chirpy, cheep cheep!!!! LOL

Sounds to me like it MIGHT be the cam syncro, but maybe not.
