so heres the deal, i got 4" tuff country drop brackets for free from my work. i decided i didnt want to go with rbv coils because they are so stiff and offer no flex. since we are a tuff country dealer i ordered their 3.5" lift cherokee springs which have a spring rate just over 200. since it was so low i also got some 1.5" jeep coil spacers.

after installing all that and taking it for a test ride my tires are sitting like / \

i want 4-5" of lift, should i drop the coil buckets, get different xj coils' or swap to some eb coils? which eb coils will net me about 5" of lift?

thanks, dylan

You would need more like a 6" jeep coil to get 4" on a BII. Search around here... it's been covered extensively by 4x4junkie, CopyKat, and others.

And to run the soft jeep coils you NEED to address the steering, your typical drop pitman arm isn't going to cut it here....

Yep you'll need to address the steering as well...might look into a modded superlift superrunner setup or Stonecrusher setup (search for member ThatCat and look through his posts).

Hey since your a tuff country dealer, could you look up the spring rate on their 4" RBV coils? I have a set and have scoured the internet to no such luck for these numbers.

I believe that you mean ThatGuy

agreed!

also, there seems to be alot of talk lately about RBV/EB/JEEP coils and whatnot,

there is quite a bit of info on this site, as well as dezertrangers.com and the like.

if you weren't happy with the ride height of your jeep coil's, i wouldn't move the bucket location, kinda contradicts the point of the flexy jeep coils. i'd look into a coil with similar PPI, and a longer free length. there is more math a guy could do to fine tune it, but thats a good start!

let us know what you come up with! i was in the same mode of thinking on mine a bit, and i think i've narrowed it down to EB coils. but its by far a drop in kinda thing:icon_welder::icon_cheers:

rbv 4" coils from tuff country are about 450 ppi if i remember correctly.

if i were to move the coil buckets down how would that interfere with the coil flex? they are 18" coils and have tons of drop to them

anyone know the spring rate of the 4" xj superlift coils?

Longer coils seem to hold up better too.

I'm very happy with my Skyjacker #JC-60F coils (6" lift XJ/ZJ coils). They came out right at 5" lift on my BII (they have a free length of 22").
