can i put the carrier from a dana 35 rear from a cherokee in the front ttb dana 35, it shouldnt mater right because im not using the ring or pinion.

thanks dave,

There's a carrier break on the jeep axles, so I believe you would need the one for the 3:73 gears as there's no break on the ford unit. Even then I'm not sure if they fit or not. I do have an lsd 3:73 carrier from a jeep in my workshop but I don't have a ford one to compare with. I could take measurements if necessary.

Yes, the 3.55 & up Jeep D35 carrier fits the HP Ford D35 (TTB) no problem. As you noted, the R&P gears do not swap though.

Just in case you need some case heights for the carrier breaks

Dana 30 HP
3.54 carrier is 1.810" tall
3.73 carrier is 1.943" tall

Dana 35c
3.31 carrier is 1.625" tall
3.73 carrier is 1.437" tall

3.54 (3.55) and 3.73 are the same carrier on the D35 (the split is 3.31down, 3.54up)

You are correct. Sorry about that, I did a copy and paste when I was listing note from the Dana 30.

There is an exception with the Dana 35c, the 3.27 gears use the 3.54 case. The 3.31 - 2.?? use the taller case. Drove me loony trying to setup a R&P one time.

Also, please keep in mind, the Dana 35c from a Cherokee/TJ (27 spline) can be different than the (30 spline) from a Grand Cherokee. Last time I interchanged the cases, I had to swap the spider gears,

A FACTORY 30 spline Dana35?? :icon_confused:

Got a link to any info on that? (are you sure it didn't have one of the popular "Super 35" conversions done on it?)

It could have been after market. I don't know for sure. If I can find my notes from that project, it will have part numbers and dimensions.
