Check out what I just picked up...

Build coming this summer...

I don't know which ratio yet... I haven't ID'd it yet. It's in my shop and I'm starting the r&r on it. I wasn't too concerned about the ratio as it's getting re-geared anyway...
I was expecting just a regular 44 when I went to meet the guy as he said it was from an f-150... but then I noticed it was 8 lug :D

But yeah it's getting disassembled and cleaned, but since I'm a broke student I'm thinking about rustoleum hammered finish :thefinger:
It works pretty well actually, my buddy used it on his narrowed 9" and it's held up for about a year.

Well it's got a 4.09 ratio,

however... the BOM number doesn't match anything. I even searched it on spicer and it didn't find it :icon_confused:

Nice! What ratio? You gona disassemble it and powder coat it?
I never understood why anyone would want to powdercoat an axle housing. Once a small chip starts to pop and moisture gets underneath it, the rest will start to flake off as well. It's not if, it's when that happens.

I also used the Rustoleum Hammered finish, and was happy with how it turned out. First time I loaded it on the trailer the chains scratched the heck out of it though. Oh well, it's not a show rig. :icon_thumby:

Still haven't taken any pics since its been cleaned up...

I'm having some serious issues getting the spindles off... I'm following the appropriate "hit it with a hammer" technique and it refuses to come off. All my college instructors have looked at it, wailed on it with a hammer and chisel, two jaw pullers, etc and nothing.

I drowned it in loosen-it before I left class today and I'm hoping that it will come off tomorrow...

And I think one of my instructors stripped one of my spindle nuts :annoyed:

Any Ideas or special techniques you guys use?

it's that jammed on there? Wow, you may have to use a blue wrench to get it warm and try to back it off.....

Yeah I think tomorrow I'm gonna take the blue tipped wrench to it... its not the nut but the entire spindle assembly is stuck to the knuckle :annoyed:
