This is my 89 Ranger I bought as a beater to drive back and forth to South Carolina. But as always, I can't leave well enough alone. So . I decided to make it look like a '69 F100 :) I bought and redid a tailgate with no stainless trim so I could paint the FORD letters white. I took a 60s/70s rear non-step ( rare ) bumper and sectioned 6 inches from both sides. I have to combine brackets to be able to mount it, but I think it looks good. I painted it white of course :) Next, I got some Bronco II 15" wheels and painted them . .what else white! Then I got some later model Ranger dog dish type caps and retainers and again, I like it!! They worked perfectly with the old style Ranger/Bronco II wheels. Next, I painted the roof . . white too. The last thing will be the front end. I have a bumper already painted white but the big thing is I want to go to an 83-88 style front end; it looks older. I also have trim/emblems from a '69. The script for the bed that says RANGER and the F100 emblems for the hood ( mine will mount on the fenders). Add to that the FORD letters for the front of the hood . . and I'll have my 89/69 Ranger ! I 'll have finished pics sometime, but I'm not in a hurry. It is just a beater. So what do you think? How about the rear? I really like it!

i like it, looks great.

You need the continue the white down the back side of the cab over top of the drip rail to the top of the bed rail. Thats how the two tone cabs were actually painted, not just the top.

neat...really neat.

i also suggest you follow your idea of the gen 1 core support and front dress along with the round headlight mod. kopycat may have the inserts to touch off the round light conversion.

i dig this idea.:icon_idea:

To the O.P. Very nice, subtle but once you pointed everything out, you notice. Good work:icon_thumby: On another note Wheres the build thread on the box/bronco2

Looks very nice, I have been tempted to get some of the older "Ranger" emblems for mine, but I am kinda partial to the western looking first gen ones.

Having the F O R D on the tailgate looks much better than the aluminum jobber that was there from the factory, one thing I like about mine.

I do agree, you need to bring the white down more or something, it look kind of strange up on the top by itself.

You should be flogged for cutting up that bumper... I've been looking for one for my '67 for 10 years....

But it does look good. :)

Yes, the correct roof treatment for a bumpside that you are trying to emulate is down to the bottom of the back of the rear window area.

To be 100% true to the old style factory two tone scheme, in between the top and bottom line would also need to be the same color as the color chosen for the top....But im not splitting hairs or anything......

You're forgetting this is an extended cab. They were painted differently than a standard cab. So what is the deal with the round headlight conversion? I also picked up a BII and am doing the same vintage look, using white for bumpers and grille and old Bronco emblems etc. I like the rough headlights though . .whats the deal with these?
