Check engine gauges, light

Shop replaced all vacuum lines, EGR, fuel filter, and thermostat, yesterday. Nine months ago engine temp sensor was replaced. At first after the work the temp gauge was dead on the cold(C), but this morning it started working and reads in the mid range between H and C, but the "check engine gauges" light comes on momentarily ever so often. What gives?
