Cheap, easy, and worth it.

Hell, if two ten inch subs were too much then two twelves would kill.

If there's too much space inside the enclosure.. does it lessen the amount of bass? Or does it just make quality go to shit?

..I should prolly just spend 5 minutes and sign up on an AV forum.. haha

if you build the box bigger than what the sub requires, youll need less power to get full excursion. if your not carefull youll kill the sub. im not sure about the sound quality. just build the box to the manufacturers specs and youll be fine.

k. I'm redesigning my enclosure anyway, parts of it were too big.

that exact deck is at my Canadian Tire store now for like $80, Canadian Tire is a place like, hmm well a bit like Princess Auto, wait, do that store exist in the states too?

Canadian Tire or Princess Auto? I haven't seen either. Around here, we just have Advance Auto and Autozone.

well canadian tire obviously isnt in the states, silly!! haha
i guess princess auto isnt either,
well its just a normal car and truck and home hardware store,
linky

edit
they have alot of good stuff, any kind of stuff for cars or trucks they got it, i got some of the little 3 inch underglow in my cab that i got from them, and my new starter, and soon my new tires :D

I will say that Pioneer makes really good decks, just make sure to clean them every once in a while. I haven't had any problems with mine, and I'd buy it from Crutchfield since they give you everything you need to install it.

well, I wasnt for sure if u had allready got this settled and setup or not. I have the 2007 Ford Ranger regular cab and I have two 10s and they def. do not kill the mids and highs. I dont know how all of ya'll r deciding on what ya'll want but I'll go ahead and say now that more subs or bigger subs doesnt always mean louder or more pound. u can get a nice sound from two 12s and they can sound just the same as two 10s, it all depends on the power as well as the box. I would suggest putting two tens back there in a box that just sits in the middle and points ur subs toward u. what u might want to try is not going over 200 watts RMS per sub. that is the rating that u need to go by when looking at any and all car audio, if ur sony is 330 wats RMS and ur amp is pushing 500 watts RMS, ur sub is probably distorting and when ur sub distorts its in the process of busting. if u would like me to I can post a couple of links to a few pics of systems that r just meant for SQ(sound quality), and if u want something to get some pressure going in the cab I'll post some links to pics of setups for SPL(sound pressure level). I'll even post a link to a vid of my system, it's for SPL but it still sounds really good and I havent even added my tweeters and crossovers yet. sorry that was so long.

two 12's sounding the same as two 10's? if you take a pair of 10s and a pair of 12s from the same product line(lets use Rockfords Punch P1). now the 12s should be luoder just based on the fact they have more cone area to move more air. thats assuming both the 10s and the 12s are seeing the same power. now if you play around with different boxes, you can get the 10s to hit like 12s or 15s. two words, transmission line.

as far as feeding a sub 500w when it only needs 330w, yes you will damage the sub at high volume listening levels. it is possible to adjust the gain, so the 500w amp only feeds the sub 330w. its always good to have some headroom for the future.

So if the 500w amp is hooked to two 330 w subs... would it be putting out 500 to each or 250 to each?

it depends on the amp and its rated power at a given ohm load

Basically what I'm asking is will I need more than just the one amp to reach full power on two subs if both subs together exceed the power that the amp is capable of putting out.

well if your putting 250w to a sub that can handle 330w, you will not notice an audible difference if you were to feed it the full 330w. you would have to double the power for a 3db gain. so id just feed them 250w and call it a day. but id use a 4awg amp kit so in the future you can add a bigger amp. and it also depends if the amp will actually put out the rated power. some of the cheaper ones only put out 50-60% of their rated power. hope that helps
