Just a quick FYI. The Wal-Mart by me (Lawrenceville Georgia) has the cheap Cobra's for $22. It said $35 but rang up $22.

I needed one more for the PA function that the CB function so it was perfect.

those are wal-mart grade cobra's though.

There is no such thing as "walamrt grade" when it comes to cb radios. A cobra 19 is a cobra 19 no matter where you buy it. They will talk just as far as any other cb when set up correctly.

i disagree. by wal-mart grade i mean its a cheapy CB... which it is.

Yeah, just because it has the name "Cobra" on it, doesn't mean it's automatically a good radio. I will say though it's not likely to be the worst one you could buy.

The radio makes little difference to a typical cb user. The antenna tells the story on weither or not you get out. That cheapie cb and a good antenna will walk all over a $200with a cheap antenna

i was looking at the cb last night thinking about buying it cause it was cheap and it would fit in the pocket on my door do you like it? can you change the display color?

a cobra 19 at wal mart is as good as a cobre 19 bought any ware. it not like they make one for wal mart and then another for every other store.

and for this cb, its good. its the one i got nothing fancy just the bare bones

I have a cobra 19 that I got off craigslist and have it mounted in front of the passenger seat on the transmission tunnel and two 4ft antennas that I got from fry's here in Austin,tx and it works fine. I can reach up to 20 miles around me with no problems.

Yes i found a thread on a cb radio forum once. Cant remember off the top of my head, but ill try to find it.

I bought a brand new Cobra 19 about a year ago for my brother to use in his Jeep when we went wheelin'. It's a good basic radio, the only complaint I have, IMO, is with the internal speaker, it doesn't sound clear to me at all. It has an external speaker plug in the back, if you get a decent external speaker it is a lot clearer. It also has a P.A. plug in. It does not have color change unless there is some hidden way to do it I don't know about.

It's only been on 2 trail runs & is practically brand new, it has been sitting on my desk since my brothers clutch went out, it's still his if he ever fixes his friggin clutch. I run a compact Midland 1001z in my B2, it's not high dollar at all, but it has a good clear internal speaker & is a good lil radio for what I use it for.

I think to change the backlight color you have to take it apart and get to the led, then buy one of the color you want and solder it in place of the original.
Do NOT take my word for it though.
