I have a 1996 Ranger XLT Extended Cab 4x4. It came with the standard steering wheel. I got a leather wrapped wheel that I want to install. My ? is this how do I deal with the airbag? I need to use the one on the old wheel with the new leather wheel. How do I turn off the system? Remove the bag assembly? Anything else that might be needed to do?:icon_confused:
Thanks!

You didn't say what kind of wheel you want to install. Is it from a Ranger or an aftermarket one? If it's a Ford OE unit you may want to use the airbag from that wheel as well.

Also check your state laws regarding air bag removal. If you look at the aftermarket ones such as Grant they don't offer adapter kits for any vehicles that come standard with bags cause of the liability. Some states will not renew tags if the bag is disabled.

Hope this helps!

You're not wanting to disable the air bag permenantly, right? Just don't want it to blow in your face while switching it to the new wheel?
