changing my 2.3 to a 2.2 diesel

The reason all those guys do it EFI is because it is easier to drive, less quircky. At the same time though, you are building something non-stock. It is gonna be a little quirky.
Keep an eye out on E-bay for one of those intakes already done, You could also make a post in the wanted forum here.

ok now "quirky", i take that as you mean tinkering with the carb to get it right? but once you get it right, its set? or do you have to mess with it occasionaly or constantly? :icon_confused:

im looking for an intake to just do myself, like you said if i mess it up ill either weld it back or just buy another used one

ok well ill just go and find one. and when i get it i will post pics as reference for some help!

hmmm, well would a 2bbl carb be ok? now like you said i dont wanna over power anything, i want it just right

I did a blow thru a 350 cfm holley 2 bbl in a 77 pinto with a 2.8L 60deg V6, and the 350 2 bbl was fine with 8 psi of boost, my advice on 2.3 turbo setup use a 350 cfm carb if you just cruise it (better throttle responce when there is no boost at low rpms), for a race setup a 500, or 650 cfm holley 2 bbl, or find, or make your own 4 bbl adaptor. Esslinger doesn't have any 4 bbl to efi adaptors either.

By "quirky" I mean that it won't run perfect in every condition once the carb is perfect. If you are used to carbarators you'll probably never notice. If you had nothing but EFI all your life you'ld think there was something wrong. The nice thing about carbs is that if you are just a little lean at one point all you have to do is feather the throttle, With EFI that does you no good.
You should never have to mess with the carb if it is right in the first place. A carb can be a long ways off and still be driveable.
Yep, just get the 2bbl adapter and a 350 holley. That is a good starting point and if you change later they are fairly easy to sell.

hmmm. ok well i gotta get a intake manifold and post some pics on exactly where to grind and weld.

now on the piping. what goes to what? or where to where? what about the intercooler?

8 psi, that seems like thatd should be cool enough, and like you said, i could always change it. now how do i adjust the boost later?

I plan on putting a blow thru setup on my 88 ranger 2.3 sometime soon (probably after the first of the year), I'll put up a thread with info, and pics, stay tuned.
