I've got an '87 Ranger with a 2.9 that I'm trying to change the ignition module on. Any tips? Are the screws flat head or phillips head? If I could get them off, seems like it'd be so simple... I'm just not having any luck with them. Thanks guys...

Yep... that looks like that would do it... I wondered how in the world you was supposed to get it off...

Okay so the furthest back nut came out without any problems, but I can't get it on the one closest to the passenger side fender. Surely they're the same size hole and nut, right? I can't even get the wrench in the hole...

they might have a plastic/rubber plug in it...dig it out with a small screw driver.

then your handy dandy wrench should work

Good idea, but I don't think thats the case... I can feel where the hole is... maybe there is a plug on down in there. I'm going to try it again tomorrow with another T20 socket and see if maybe it'll fit better. For something so simple, this has been a really frustrating project.

I'm on my 3rd one in my 88. I'm hoping I got a good one this time. It's an issue Ford ignored for 20 years and it cost people thier lives. Ford thought a lawsuit would be a cheaper fix.
