i did this last night, with lights, tree, chain and come along. this is my 89 ranger i had to put a fuel pump in. then i added some paint to the frame.
I don't know how redneck your repair or what I saw at the junkyard today was,
But on a 91 STX "someone" had taken a cutting torch to the bed and cut about a square foot out of the bed above the fuel pump...oh yea it had a plastic bed liner on it too...cut that at the same time...just one pass
just unbolt the drivers side....loosen the passenger and jack it up...or push it up and prop it with a piece of wood...dont really need a jack.
if its as rotted and the bolts spin in the keeps i tend to cut a door in the bed from above with the tank covered by a welding blanket.....and i use a sawzall very carefully
