Oh! great oracle that is trs. someone must know how to cancel the change oil soon light on the big bosses (wife) Saturn aura 2008. I've tried closing all the windows and turning it off and turning it back on again to no avail, It usually works on the computer why the hell don't it work on a car. Any help would be much appreciated, I don't want to spend another night in the dog house.

i have no idea what you're doing with the windows and what-not. the standard for gm's is turn the key to the on position (without starting) push the gas pedal to the floor 3 times in less than 5 seconds, for some gm cars there is a red "reset" button in the fuse box inside the driver's door jam but that was for older cars

I did a service on a newer saturn at work the other day, there was a reset button in the under hood fuse box. The cover actually had oil reminder reset on it.

on that new of one the reset button should be in the drivers side of dash where door covers it, if not under hood in fuse box. turn key on hold for 10 sec should reset.

no reset buttons on '08s. they went back to the gas pedal trick for '08s
prior to the 08 many saturns had buttons. i even verified this on alldata

Ahh, the mash the gas pedal fully and release 3 times within 5 seconds of turning ignition on..... that you have to do about 10 times to make it work

i served a 5 year sentence at jiffy lube. once you get the hang of it, you can do it the first try every time, every car. i manage the service department at a dealership now and i watch seasoned, verteran mechanics struggle with this simple task. as i am able to walk up and nail it first try.

btw: on many of the gm's and saturns that have the red "reset" button the gas-pedal procedure it designed to work as well

well you can call me a seasoned mechanic that struggles with it then. I have been fixing vehicles for 15 yrs now as a career..... basically have a job since 14 doing it, went to UTI as well as a local tech school, ASE master with a-9 and L-1, master med/ hvy truck with L-2 and yes I still despise the gas pedal trick

the irony is that during all of that education if they mentioned this subject at all, they merely briefly disussed it. its funny how school doesn't teach more than half of what you need to know :dunno:

unrelated to you at all but my uncle graduated from uti and to this day still tells the story where a chevy truck idled past him and sucked the air filter ino the engine and spit it out the exhaust relatively intact.........and he believes it.

Mission acomplished, mash the gas pedal three times for the win. Thanks for the replies guys. Just for the record I just took the boss breakfast in bed so she should be a happy camper now, I hope.

Glad you got it figured. I really like your original post, good sense of humor:icon_rofl::icon_thumby:

She? Breakfast in bed? The least of your problems are your oil warning...didn't anyone ever tell you to never feed a woman in bed?

What if she spilled syrup on her beaver and ordered you to clean up that mess...would you use kitty litter or just clean it up likety-split?
