so im in desperate need of a 2.8 carb for the ol ranger and ive been callin EVERY used parts store in my area and before i can even get "i need a carb for a 2.8 ford out" they say aint got it!?! i dont even think they are looking??? I just wanna kick em all in the nuts cause they make me mad...Shouldnt everyone be tryin to make money right now??? By any means, i woulda been like hold on let me try to find it for you, AND FOUND IT AT ANY COST! douches

If you are not looking for a stock feedback carb keep in mind you are shopping for a part used on Mustang II's and Pinto's (not the longest lasting cars) and that they have been out of production for 30 years.

You might have to stomach the core and get a reman... or a Holley 350.

or maybe OE carbs realy are hard to find. Its not like there are tons of cars on the road with carbs these days.

The junkyards have not seen a 2.8 in over TEN years. 2.8's are RARE, and if you're using the original feedback system, buy up all the sensors you can...many of them are no longer available!

I have a spare 2.8 feedback carb, NOT FOR SALE!:no2: These things are Rare(in good working order), and those Webber aftermarket carbs are VERY expensive!

I am contemplating the Dura-Spark conversion, but I see no reason, since my system is working great....just wished it was not so complicated. :temper:

Even reading the codes takes skill, and damned if I can't get rid of that "throttle sensor out of range" code!

Rockauto.com. They have rebuilts for 1984 starting at $263 with an $80 core.

I think if you look around you could probably find one.

Have one in my garage. What's it worth?

It's the one thing I kept when I threw the engine away. Couldn't find anyone that wanted it.

just saw a couple 2.8l at the pick and pull in aurora of colfax, and some at the pick and pull in greely, didn't think they where that rare:icon_confused:

What carb do you have and what carbs can replace it would be a better approach....and finding OEM parts for that model year may be expensive and/or more effort than it's worth...I tried to find a rebuild kit for my carb and they all wanted the part number plate from the carb...like they can't find the parts without that little manufacturers tag!

Oh, well...I know what you're going through...somewhat...

Are you kidding me? The you pull it yard I go to has a ton of 2.8 Rangers and Bronco II's with complete engines.

As a matter of fact, I will be there on Saturday if anyone needs anything off a 2.8.

Duraspark IT!!

Just Duraspark it and be done with it. Then you can run pretty much any type of ford flange 2 barrell carb. Thats what i did. Runs much better than the old electronic carb did any day. There are multiple instructions on how to do it. I believe my instructions are still posted.

For the price of a new or remaned carb you could easily duraspark it cheaper. unless you have to pass emissions and have a picky tech.

I've wondered, is the Duraspark conversion street legal?

No, any altering of the stock system is illegal... but then neither is drivng with a check engine light.

In some areas nobody cares.

Exactly ... nobody cares here in Kansas. But depends on whether you have to pass an emissions test. If not then go for it. Nobody will ever know besides you.

I've never heard of that being illegal in Canada, but if it was I'd fight the ticket...my CEL comes on when I hit a bump and goes off when I disconnect a vac hose and let the engine rev for a few seconds...

Modification of the emissions systems is just as illegal in Canada as it is in the United States.
