Has anyone considered a ceramic paint coating on their trucks? I got a rough quote of about $800 to have the truck coated, from what I've read in the past this pretty much means you don't wash the truck again for 4-5 years, maybe longer, before you get it coated again. It's supposed to help protect the paint from scratches and whatnot too. Any opinions? Has anyone done it and thought it was worth it?

i personally have not, but my old roommate did so i have some experience
first, yes. you absolutely do wash your car on your normal schedule. its just way easier.
second, what youre paying for is the cut and buff job they do before applying the coating. this gets rid of any swirles and surface imperfections.
the ceramic coating is just a coating to protect that job they just did. its advanced wax that doesnt let stuff stick into it or the clear as easy. so most often car washes turn to rinse offs.
is it worth it? depends. he had it done to a 13 year old cts-v and it looks showroom new. would i pay do it to either of my trucks? negative.

I'd say if someones 13 yr old car still looks new then doing it to a brand new truck would have similar results.... I doubt the CTS-V was driven in the winter so it wouldn't have salt to worry about so I don't know if that will cause any issues down the road if you drive that truck in the winter and if your area salts the roads or not. I say if you have the funds to do it then just do it.... Not like you have to maintain much of anything once it is done from what it sounds like. $800 isn't that much if you just bought a 50k truck lol.

its his daily driver but we live in california. we dont have weather to worry about. sometimes a leaf will fall on the hood but thats about it. :ROFLMAO:
brand new truck? sure why not try it if you got the funds! i dont have that kinda money so ill stick to my car washes and once a year clay/wax program

A bit steep. I would spend the money on other mods.
