My credo
If it's not broken Don't Fix It!
I have gotten conflicting theory's on this so some guidance is necessary.

The current center support does not have the rock and dust shield installed with it but the new one comes with one. Does this get installed or is it left off.

I will be doing the job in about an hour or so, All 3 u-joints and carrier bearing to eliminate the bad rear joint and bad center support.

I've always left it on.

The last one I did though... it broke free and trust me... they jingle... a LOT. I had to get under it again and hit it with 2 small tack welds to shut it up.

Doing it now leaving it off.
