I have a center consloe in my 02, the arm rest lid was cracked and repaired by the PO, well the other day it broke off. So last night I re-glued and added a screw. Well today I cant get it back on. Is there some sort of trick? Or am I screwed?

I broke it. Stripped the screw hole. Ended up reguling it. First time some one got it. SMASH! No luck. Can I get a new one?

I built mine out of a 1/8 alum. plate covered it with three sheets of high dens. foam. trimmed to the stile I wanted(rounded edges). and covered it in black waterproof canvas like boat cover. and bolted to the hinge. now its strong enough my eng mastiff is able to stand on it with no bending or breaking.

will do sunday afternoon. I work 24hr shifts and start at 8am tommorrow. so that will be a problem while i'm at work.

hey sorry It took so long. but here are the pictures. I hope this idea helps.

The secret to this whole thing really pivots off the point. is to glue everything down really good I suggest the 3m heavy duty adesive. and make sure you take the time to read the instructions about the glue. sorry I don't have pics of the assembly. I really didn't know how well this would turn out.

I went down to the locall parts house and bought so kind of rubber like stripping that is used in convertible tops. it is a hi compostie rubber that can be stapled in to. I then riveted in three spots along each edge. of the lid.

Hmmm...just curious...how did you staple into 1/8" aluminum?

It's quite amazing what you can staple into.

I put one right into the bone/joint of my thumb just messing around. Ended up having to pry it out. Didn't feel a thing.

I've used my *heavy duty* stapler to do just about anything. Including some insanely tough ceiling tiles. Couldn't even dent them hitting them with a crowbar but staples go right in.
