Hey guys. For the past week I've been getting a CEL light on at different times and sometimes it will not come on at all. Once I cut the truck off and restart the SEL is off. I purchased a scan tool today and plug into the test port and listened to the beeps and got this: 3-3-5, 3-3-5, long pause, 3-3-2, 3-3-2. Haynes manual says the 335 is EGR sensor voltage is out of range; and the 332 is Insufficent EGR Flow. But while doing some further checking I was told that years 83-95 only used two digit codes. I got these codes off while the engine was warm but turned off with key on position.
My Haynes manual is very similar to the 3 digit codes listed in the tech library, but I'm unsure if I'm suppose to read the beeps as 3 or 2 digit codes?

Thanks for confirming my truck also uses the 3 digit codes. I thought it would be weird to reading the beeps as 3 digit if the truck was two. Before trying to replace the DPFM I replaced the two vaccum hoses (from Dealership) to ensure I got the correct hoses. When I was taking off old hoses, they were very brittle and falling apart. If the hoses don't correct, then I'll replace the DPFM module. I wanted to try the vaccum hose approach since the DPFM is over $100. Has anyone else had positive results with EGR low flow codes when replacing the DPFM?

Well, after replacing the vaccum hoses on Friday the truck didn't set the CEL again until this afternoon. It did fine all weekend. Can the DPFM be cleaned before replacing? Can you clean it with Throttle Body cleaner? Most information I found advised the DPFM is the cause more than the EGR valve. Getting 332 and 335 code.

Get the plastic Tomco brand at an AP store.
Shouldn't be more than ~$54.
I've seen them for less on-line.

You can clean the DPFE, but it probably won't help.

It's a very common failure item.

Earl - Thanks for the help. I was able to order a DPFE on-line for greatly reduced amount than what I can get it here locally. Once it comes in I'll see if that will fix problem.

Bend those two hoses around a bit and look for cracks when you replace it.
Replace them if necessary.
Make sure you connect them properly, they are different sizes for a reason!
