God is great, beer is good, and rangers are awesome!
I'm gonna put a cb in my 98 ext cab. Does anyone have a good idea on where to put the radio? I don't want to drill any holes anywhere unless I have to, and I don't like all the wires showing. I was thinking about putting it under the seat, but thatd be a pita to change a channel or something. Ideas? Thanks!

What size radio are you looking at? There are a few sizes, and which size you get would probably change where I'd suggest putting it.

Mounted on top of the dash, or from the ceiling at the front of the headliner are both popular choices that should be considered. If done right the wires will be exposed but not really visible.

I made a piece to mount a Midland 1001Z in the hole for my ash tray.

If you have an auto trans you could probably mount it vertically to the front of the center seat.

I have a base from way back when that sits on the floor, you mount the radio on top and there is an auxiliary speaker you are supposed to hook the radio to below.

The speaker was ancient and petrified so I removed it and filled in the hole with the black textured plastic from an old VCR and used it to mount auxiliary switches to.

This was with my 2002 F-150, it has a floor shift 4wd but also has a bigger trans hump than a Ranger so depending on what you have going on down there there might not be enough room.

Looks like my picture links were broken in that referenced thread...

I put in an aftermarket radio/cd player in my Ranger and mounted a small CB above it as you can see in the attached picture. Took a little playing around to get it mounted in there, but it worked out good. Never did decide if I wanted to just close off the slots next to the CB or make it so you could store a pencil in there or something.
