See I bought this cobra cb radio from wal mart, then I bought this speaker from radioshack trouble is the back of the cb radio needs an 3.5mm audio jack for the cb radio to send the signal through the back of it into the speaker. So I picked up a 3.5mm jack and I dont know how to wire a positive and negative to a 3 pronged setup on the inside of the jack?

Where would be a good 12v fuse to run the cb radio off of?

you probably should have gotten a mono 3.5mm jack (that would only have one black ring on it, not two).

my radio is connected to my cigarette lighter.

You only needed a 2-prong plug for the speaker.
The 3-prong one can be made to work though.
Connect one wire (-) to the ground prong (base of plug), then connect the other (+) to the very tip of the plug (end prong), leaving the middle one unconnected.

Run a separate power lead through the firewall and put an inline fuse on it right next to the battery (A CB draws a fair amount of power and is sensitive to any voltage loss. I don't recommend tapping into other circuits).

Did you wire your loudspeaker to your 3.5mm Jack

Imma put pictures of this jack on here tomorrow so maybe I could get this $80 project in my damn vehicle

finally got off my ass and took a picture tell me how I would wire this jack or if no one knows I know I just have to go get a new 3.5mm jack

Can you ohm it out? Just to verify what sections connect? Or does the packaging tell you? I know on some wires I just did that the back section was connected to the shielding and the positive was the tip and the negative was the middle section. May just want to double check.

wire it just like that.

I'am an idiot so I numbered the prongs so you could tell me how to wire them?

i dont know about this but we wired my cb up today , and we wired it to the radio harness , since the radio has an in line noise filter = no stupid feed back like i got when i wired it to the cig lighter , i wont ever wire it to the battery , i tend to forget to turn things off , so it is wired to the hot in run/acc wire , and if you go to any truck stop they would have what you need , suck as a power wire with an inline fuse holder already installed , like mine , and i have a cobra also , but mine was free

#3 is the ground wire
1 is for the positive speaker wire
you could use 1 or 2 for the positive lead

so I need to have three wires going into this thing?

Positive and negative + and extra piece for ground?
