ok, next, cb/pa set to pa, or cb? squelch full off/RF full on?

it's set to cb and I did mess with the settings when it didn't work and nothing happened

How do you have your antenna mounted?

I have the same radio you do, btw, great little radio. I'm running a 4ft Fiberglass Antenna and it works pretty decently.

Have you checked your antenna's SWR yet?

Yea that's exactly where I'm at now I got a uniden pro538w with a cobra a1000 magnetic mount antenna the last thing to do is get it tuned what do u guys think? Would it be smarter to buy a meter or just have it done at bestbuy or something? On a side note I connected mine to the accessory in the fuse box seems to be working properly and well, and it was very easy conceal the wires and to mount with the self-tapping screws but The only place I could mount it was to the dash cause I'm a big dude in a tiny 96 b2300 regular cab hahahha

Buy your own meter because you'll probably change your setup or get a new setup eventually. And you could probably make a few bucks from friends by charging to tune their setups.

i bought my swr for like 15$

but regardless of the SWR, it shouldn't make a difference in receiving signal... as someone else said above, turn your volume all the way up, squelch all the way down, and rx-gain all the way up... you should atleast hear static... if you don't you've got a messed up unit, try an external speaker...

Or if you don't your antenna isn't grounded good enough or at all.

you should still get some static with the antenna completely disconected...

is the mic plugged in? i have the same radio and it won't work without the mic
