My credo
JESUS Loves Ya!
I was never concerned about exhaust emissions, but a few of the guys at TRS kept chiseling away at me. Then this happened...I had a brand new Cat with about a 1,000 miles on it left over from my 2.9L/V8 swap.

So, I installed the Cat on one side of my dual exhaust system and ran it to a harley davidson muffler at the bumper.

Un-expected results are:

1. Sounds great (I removed the baffle from the H.D. muffler/short video in the Stupied thread))

2. The "mini-Cat" acts as a "muffler" & deepens the exhaust tone.

3. The exhaust smell is minimal!

A. The other exhaust without the mini-cat has a expected louder (raspy) sound.

B. The tone is higher & exhaust "popping" is very noticeable.

C. The smell of the exhaust is breath-taking (& not in a good way).

D. My eyes watered & burned like crazy while checking the muffler for leaks/loose clamps.

So.....I have to....errr....ahhhhh....:icon_thumby:.....on the cats (can't believe i said that!)

Good to hear!

lol never thought i would hear that one i have 5 freaken cats on my 03 edge and i want em out just looking at the y pipes and the pipes from the collecters makes me cringe im so tempted at cutting them out to get me a few more ponies lol.

im just cutting the last one off i have 4 on my 01 4.0 i dont think it will mess with my 02 sensors. i ran it with open headers one day...freaking sweet til i realized how loud it was and got mad when it popped all my dummy lights

more ponies....bigger feeding bill.....guaranteed...your decision!

EDIT: buy your next set of tires 1.5 inches smaller in diameter than OEM....it'll feel like you added 50 h.p. to the engine!
........Ooooops, I wasn't paying attention....you drive it off-road....forget that smaller tire comment.....LOL
........(i'm quietly going back to the Metamorphosis forum now)

Not only is it against federal laws to remove emmisions components, it won't gain you anything.

Your 01 will have per and post cat O2 sensors.....if the downstream doesn't see the cat functioning as it should, it will throw a CEL.

Also they are all not cats...the two right after the manifolds are resonators, then you have a precat and then the catalytic converter.

lol w/e out with them anyways im going to bend up some smoother 2 1/4" pipes for my truck anyways then make something that "looks" like a cat basically the shell from the cat just welded around the pipe lol then ill get o2 simulators to fool the emissions part, then when i get money turn off the emissions part of my ecm :) and i drive a truck anyways fuel mileage isn't something i was considering when i bought it lol

That has got to be one of the dumbest things I've heard in a while. Why not save your time, money and the air we breathe and leave the cats alone? You will gain absolutely nothing and be illegal to boot. You will actually HURT your performance, not help.

if you're going to waste all that time and money why not just buy a cai it will net you about the same hp without all the hassle.plus you wont fubar those nice valves. new cars are real finicky when it comes to cats. they put them there for a reason and designed everything to have them stay there. youd have to change alot to get so little. youre better off working somewere else to get the power.

If my truck had 5 cat converters on it I'd be rich.

Also, I forgot this thread was a month old, sorry.
