Catch Can - weird (but good) results

Hey, you know that is Distilled oil right
Vaporized to remove all the contaminants and then condensed

That's some smooth sippin' stuff, don't gulp it down :)

Looks like your were burning a bit of oil there, lol, only 200miles, thats a bit of oil collected

3000 mile update.

Definitely doing a bang-up job of keeping sh*t out of the intake.

Yea ... Probably should do that to mine... I'll bump it a little closer to the top of my ever-growing list of future mods, right after I finish adding my third brake light on my 89...

Why add a third brake light?

Why add a third brake light?
Increases visibility so people behind you might notice that you are slowing down. No biggy. Just a possible increase in safety

Not neccesary. The other side of the system draws fresh air in so there is nothing to filter.

I bit and picked up an oil catch too. I installed it this weekend using you pictures as a guide. It really improved the idle on my 1988 Ranger with 183k. It used to bounce and stumble when warm and now it is rock steady at about 900 RPM. Thanks for the posting.

Good to hear it worked. It absolutely helped mine out.

Mine fell apart the other day when I went to clean it. The threads stripped on the cap. There was about a 1/4 inch of milky goo in there though so it worked. I'm gonna buy another one but not gonna get a 30 dollar amazon one this time. I found a nice one with a replaceable brass rock filter and twin baffles for 125. I also moved the lines farther from the block and put better heat wrap on it. The cooler the the line the more it will allow the vapor to condense and get caught in the can.

A catch can is the same principle as a moonshine still and one thing I know is how to build a good still!

Running them on all of my direct injection vehicles now as well. Can't find a single thing about them that I don't like. They keep the garbage out of the intake side, and your engine will absolutely thank you.

Ordering my $30 Amazon unit today!
Good deal. They're rather helpful irrespective of the engine type.

I would advise in not using the valve breather, and to just stick the pcv hose on the "in" side, and "out" side to where the pcv currently connects.

Also, which engine are you running? May not hurt to check intake for sludge/carbon and clean the crap out of it. My old upper looked ok, but when I pulled the lower, it has at least 1/8-1/4" of soot and sludge caked onto it, with two injectors at least partially blocked.

Also interesting to note, even running Mobil one with zddp additive like I do now, I still get synthetic oil sludge in the thing.

Who knows...
