Any body know of a decent Catalytic Converter for a good price?
All the ones i can find are $250-$300+, i really don't want to pay that much.

I've seen universal fit 3-way catalytic converters on Jegs for $40. Probably could try Summit Racing as well.

OEM ones are rip offs IMO.

Rather than start a new thread I will use this one as my question is the same.

I had a thread in the 4.0L thread about a slightly eratic temp gauge. One suggestion was that the cats may be bad. I am getting the truck looked at tomorrow but want to prepare myself best I can with whatever they find.

I have a 1999 4.0L OHV SuperCab. What is a good cost for cats? I've seen a wide range (anywhere from under $100 to over $600). I've seen single cats and the dual inline cats (which is what my truck has http://www.streetperformance.com/ART/PRODUCTS/101801/magnaflow-performance-exhaust-23388.jpeg ). I guess if i have 2 cats, I can't pull them and just put one in to save cost?

If my cats are bad, this does not look to difficult to do myself (some bolts and hangers) if I by the bolt on one in the link above. I just don't want to pay an arm an a leg if I don't have to.

.

"MathewT" + "backroad101",

I replaced my dual inline cats with one freeflow cat from Summitracing.com for $80ish plus their standard processing fee of $8.50. I have had no problems or issues with use so far (30 months).

What year truck was this on? Was this your 87 Bronco II?

.

I paid $120 for a universal fit unit for my daughter's Jeep, shop was about $50 to put it on.

So does anyone know if it is legal to remove the dual inline converters on the ranger and replace it with just a single converter?

.

Technically, it is probably illegal but if you add another cat it should probably pass emissions and a visual check if your state does that.
