I cannot get the top nut to turn on a 1989 b2.Cannot find the right socket to grip the nut just right.Help please.

he means cut them off (with a torch). I cut mine off with a zip disk. i replaced the studs with stainless steel bolts. makes it much easier to get off in the future.

good luck.

I got them hot and soaked them with PB Blaster for a few days. They came off really easy after that. I think I used a swivel and a couple extensions.

Cut off wheel or torch are the correct sizes.

Chances are, those bolts are so corroded there isn't a correct size. And every time you put a smaller size on and try it, it'll just round it off.

The "bolts" on the front of the catalytic converter aren't "bolts"
they are studs.

Infact they are like miniature wheelstuds with a knurled section and a domed head on the back side.

They can simply be driven out of the cat flange and replaced with conventional bolts.

what "size" they originally were is irrelevant, because the nuts rust and shrink
in size so they can be any size from the original 15mm rown to "gone"

Cut them off and start over.

this application cries for a stainless steel bolt.

Those are some good tips, I will have to remember them.
