anyone know if its alright to remove all the cats on a 2001 4.0l sohc ranger? i live in vermont so theres no emission laws

It's against Federal law, so it doesn't matter what state you live in, you can still get nailed for it.

No, its not alright.

It's 100% Illegal to do so, and is not condonned by TRS.

plus your truck would start throwing codes left and right

how would i make it louder then? besides headers.. i just got done puting a thrush welded on it and i can sorta hear it but its still quiet

and also i dont get why its so illegal to remove cats...

Because people still do enjoy breathing.

replace the headers or the pipe diameter, just dont remove the cat, or u want to have a permanent CEL? besides u heard it, u can get nailed for it

on a 01 u probbly got o2 sensors on ur cats if anything beat them out that way it dont sound like u have them but still looks like it its a niffty trick

just get a high flow cat from jc whitney, and 2 1/4 pipes, it should sond louder than, also shorten the length of tail pipe. have it exit before the rear tire instead of after it. all these things will make it louder.

Just because there is no STATEW emissions that has no effect on FEDERAL law.

Besides getting your engine management to be happy without it will prove difficult if not impossible.

Removing your cats will NOT improve your performance.

So....... do I need 3 high flow cats?

or is 2 compliant?

Frank

well, by law the amount of cats your truck came with is the amount of cats its SUPPOSED to have. but i mean one cat should be ok, as long as it has one lol.
