i work as a service tech in a ford shop and have been having fun with these trade in cash for clunker trad ins. we have to drain the oil and add sodium silicate/water mix to the engine and run it until it locks up. so far i have blew up 15 engines. ford has been the most durable lasting 4 min. good ole 5.0 haha. chevys suck at the longest being about 27 seconds. go ford :headbang: either way it is nice to blow up engines over fixing them for a change!
oh yeah had to blow up a 99 ranger 4x4 4.0l auto trans with a staright nice body. it had 120,000 on the ticker and it was a damn shame. :bawling: prolly worth more then the 4500 they got

def worth more. my 99 reg cab 2.5 blue books for 5500

i like how #1 trade-in is the f150 and #5 seller is the f-150

WTF, why dont they just re-sell them? So they are just going to get crushed I take it?

That makes me sick.. I don't want to hear it at all!

That's a damn shame in my opinion but still funny lol...I feel bad for the Chinese while they're picking up and recycling our old computer parts off their shore line, we're at home demolishing our old mustangs for free government credit. I guess the more things stay the same, the more things stay the same lol

Chevy's are made to tighter tolerances maybe? :P

Do we really need ANOTHER one of these threads? Just put your thoughts in one of these threads:http://www.therangerstation.com/forums/showthread.php?t=56192

http://www.therangerstation.com/forums/showthread.php?t=56464

I think there was 1 more thread too but I can't find it.

I could trade in my 67 3/4 ton with a 300 and see
No you can't, clunkers traded in must be 25 years old or less. I mean you could dump sodium silicate in there, but no one is gonna give you $4500 for it.

They don't resell them because the whole point of the program is to get gas guzzlers off the road for good. After the engine is destroyed, scrap yards can strip them for parts, but the body of the vehicle MUST get destroyed. Many scrapyards have so many cars to crush, they don't even have time to strip them so they mostly just crush them with lots of good parts on them. Like I said, look in the other threads, a lot of your questions will be answered in there.

It'll take more then sodium sillicate to kill a 300.

later,
Dustin

Is there anyways possible to strip some interiors before they crush them? I need a driver door panel and some seats :D

Think since im off for 9 days starting tomorrow, imma go dealer to dealer looking for someone to let me have 15minutes with their clunkers. :headbang:

i bet there doing it to cut off parts flow too, so we cant keep our old cars running as long.. just a thought...
