Okay I am changing out my axles on my truck, I have a 3.73 being removed, and a 4.10LS being put it. Both are 7.5" rears.

If I pull the carrier on the 3.73 and get it welded (I am told it is stronger and way easier) will it fit into my other axle?

What all do I need to swap over?

Thanks.

If they are both 7.5" then yes, but why?

Hold on, let me get this straight. You are swapping out a 7.5" axle with 3.73 gears for a 7.5" axle with 4.10 and LS. But then you want to weld the spider gears on your 3.73 gears and put them into you "new" axle?:icon_confused:

:icon_confused:Are you wanting to replace your LS with a lincoln locker? Is that what your asking?

No, he wants to mate the 3.73 carrier to the 4.10 ring gear, and weld the spiders instead of using the LS, if I read that right. I don't know, it should work.

If thats the case, you need to make sure the carriers are the same. On Dana 44s 4.10s and up use a different carrier then 3.73s and down. I don't know if this is the case with 7.5"s.

You are going to have to have your gears reset. Why don't you just regear your first axle to 4.10s?

Well I am trying to figure out the best option. I already pulled the 4.10 axle out of a truck headed for the jy. I have new leafs and blocks to install so I was going to swap it all in, in one go. Then deal with getting the other carrier welded, and installed at a later time. I know I need to do the front end, was also planning on just swapping whole axles, then striping the 3.73 front later.

90% sure the 7.5 doesn't have a carrier break... Someone else would have to confirm for sure though...

There's no carrier break. If there was, 3:73 and 4:10 would more than likely be the same carrier anyway.
