I saw an add for CAR FAX and for fun decided to see what my 2002 Ranger had been through. I have not had it for long, so I wanted to know. It was only $30.00 for one report and I said, "What the heck!" What I found was amazing. It detailed everything. My truck originally came from Ohio:shok:, and was wrecked :damnit1:there (owner had it for 1yr. 9mo.). Second owner (had it for 4yrs. 11mo.) had an 'accident' also in North Carolina:bad:. Third owner (me) had no idea of these details. I wish I would have known.....I would have paid less, repeat would have paid less for this truck! I will use CAR FAX in the future dealing with my purchases of used vehicles. I would suggest everyone use something like this. The damage to the vehicle was repaired along with various seals about the truck, but the only thing I notice is the cab and bed being crooked. A alignment shop should be able to fix that though.....still glad I bought it!:yahoo:

I recently purchased a truck on E-bay and had the,"Car-Fax" report. It was interesting to see the vehicle came originally came from Indiana and then moved down to Fl. where I picked it up. The vehicle had not been involved in any accidents and appears to have been leased to the first owner.

I drove the truck home to Nv without any incidents. but I agree when buying something liket his you need to use something other than a ,"salesman's" word about the vehicle. Of course a used car salesman never streches the facts about the car he is trying to sell you does he :) :)

So True.... :secret: and now you know how they drive around in a 2009 vehicle with all the options & their kids have one too!

I went and looked at a green 98 4x4 off-road today the guy completely bs'ed about. He told me he rebuilt the tranny and had done all this work and gone over the truck. I test drove it, tranny slipped, front end had lots of play, pulled hard to the right, had some funky ass noises.

I did one time go to a body shop and test drove a 1990 Ranger XLT Supercab with the 4.0L and auto trans auto hubs/4x4. The guy told me how he fixed all these problems and that he wanted $2195.00 for it negotiable. I tried to crank it, but the starter ground the first two attempts. His reply, "It never do that before?" finally cranked and I drove. It had slow acceleration, lack of power, and bad alignment + lots of white dog hair?! Later I tried to engage the 4x4 and it did nothing not even a click. I offered about $800-$1000 and got this look :icon_twisted: they basically treated me like a hostile alien for the rest of my stay.
