heres from the other side.it's probably the best thing that could have happened to this rat bag motel.

my ex's son got ahold of my key fob one time...... truck was in 4 low and 1st no pretty, went about ten meters thru 4 feet of snow and stuck itsself about 2 feet from the neighbors house, very lucky discovered it a hour later when i went out for a smoke still running and tires spining, could of been soooooo much worseneedless to say... the remote start got disconected

that was always one of my worries with this one,as we have three kids here, and the little one likes that remote.glad there wasn't any harm done.

Sorry for your misfortune, and thankfully no one was hurt.

Rather than rigging the tranny, consider just replacing the remote start unit with one that's designed to work with manual transmissions. They are available.

the ones for manual trannies require a big song and dance routine before shutdown to arm them.i know,i've installed plenty.a simple neutral switch is more effective and foolproof.

my moms cousin drives an F350 diesel. one day she ran a red light and the incoming car hit her in the rear bumper(barelly missed her). she lost control and she wasnt wearing the seat belt so she slided all way on the bench to the pass side, she grabbed the steering to pull herself, so the truck turned and went straight to a house.
the truck's front end went into the house. she tried to hit the brakes and instead floored the gas. that truck spinned tires on a concrete wall until both tires exploded.

good thing is that nobody got hurt on yours man. and the truck has minimal damage.
imagine if ur in the bath and the truck enters the room and passes u by haha

decided to check out another zf i have here to see what i would need to do.a ball switch mounted to the shifter carriage was the best bet to tell when the shifter is centered(neutral position).the carriage is made of brass,so i found some brass flatbar and made a tab with a threaded hole for the switch.

trans002.jpg
tig welded the tab on the carriage and screwed in the switch.when the shifter swings back and forth it pushes the switch in the middle.

the assembly still needs a piece welded onto the housing to clear the switch, and a new cap made but the whole thing was easier than i thought it would be.when i'm ready i'll just unbolt the shifter that's on the truck and bolt this one on.hook up two wires and it's safe.

just do what's gotta be done.

Sorry about the bad luck.........Hell of a fix thou!
I do like your style!
Its really nice to have you on here.Sometimes the nay sayers kinda get me down.........lol.
