Carburator problem: Is it my needle and seat?

The last time I posted, I was having issues with fuel "gushing" out of my carburetor bowl vent holes.

It's a '84 Ford Ranger with the 2150 carburetor, just rebuilt. In that thread it was determined that I was getting to much fuel pressure, thus the needle could not stop the flow.

I have retrofitted a electronic pump, and I just installed a Holley fuel pressure regulator, I turned it all the way in and tried it, it STILL poured out fuel out of the fuel bowl vent holes, abit at a slower rate.

I even tried a new float, with the air horn off, I can lightly press down on the needle and the flow of fuel stops, so where do I go from here?

Replace the needle and seat, could that be defective?:icon_confused: I just installed a new needle and seat with the rebuild.

Did you establish exactly what the fuel pressure is? Did you try bending the adjustment on the float to adjust the fluid level? it's the fluid level that's important regardless of what the float adjustment looks like. With the 2150 it's easier to adjust the level with the top off. be absolutely sure that nothing is going to cause a spark when you use the top off method.

1 p.s.i. to carb,

so I guess I will bend the float, not sure how this will work, I would have thought the float would have worked since fuel was coming out the float bowl vent holes at top of carb..... I even tried the old float that should be adjusted close, it's still doing the same thing.

I did not have any "extra parts" after the carb rebuild, and I followed the instructions.

K, basically I ****ed with it, I put that air horn gasket over the carb, finally started working correctly, I guess since I didn't have the gasket on, the float hanger kept popping up and messing up the geometry? :annoyed:

So NOW it works!:yahoo:

Thanks for the help, I guess my float hanger has to be just right, as that is what I ****ed with. :icon_hornsup:

Now what P.S.I. is my fuel regulator supposed to be set at? :dunno:

iirc 5-7 psi [haven't played with a carb in 30 yrs]

It's in the manual somewhere but I can't seem to find it, I thought it was around three.
