Belated welcome to TRS! The carb you have is probably not the right one being most 2.3L Rangers came with Carter 1bbl's with electric choke.

We sell United Carb rebuilt units. I've sold many of these including to shops with good results and feedback. I don't know where you are ( you don't have all your info listed) but if you have an Advance near you you can order it in store or even better order it online and save some money.

Hope this helps! :icon_thumby:

You can use a number of different carbs and the one bbl may work on your system but I couldn't get one to work on mine (2.0 intake had to be swapped out as would the 2.3 2bbl)...you may need an adapter...

Other options are numberous and have been discussed in the 4 banger forum...one of the best options, apparently, is using the intake from a FI model (86 I believe is the best) and a Holley 350 cfm carb...but it will also need an adapter...and these are available for a price...

Several members on here (Mutant Pony, KennyS (or was it KennyL)...) have a broader experience at this than I do...I simply lucked out and found a complete Motorcraft 5200 carb on an original 78 Mustang II 2.3 and bolted it right on...

Happy Hunting...I would be happy to answer any questions you have, but my knowledge is actually limited as to what intakes and carbs work other than what can be found on here through the search tool...

EDIT: This is your lucky day...lol...flaminranger just posted this link in the 4 Banger forum and it is quite thorough on swapping carbs...he used the 2.0 intake (yours is a 2.3 so it's probably different) but I just wanted to help a bit with something similar...
