carbon cap?

there's a box towards the drivers side under the hood, two dials, vacuum operated.


vacuum chart says it's the "carbon cap"


what is that?
 
The carbon canister is a box that captures fuel vapors from the gas tank. The vapors are released at high engine speed into the intake. It's emission related.
I've never heard of it having dials, though. The box you describe may not be what I'm thinking it is.
 
Those dials just look like dials but are not. I think they are just some kind of cap.

is it anything i should be worried about? my CEL isn't on or anything, but just looking to keep the truck running well (as it's not really doing that as of lately)
 
Don't worry about it. If it breaks, the CEL will come on.

Do a full tune up, keep the maintenance up and it will run for years, usually.
