Carb linkage issue

Hi all, new to Rangers and the forum. Using the throttle on my 1985 2.8l does not move the butterfly. The linkage on the left (facing the truck) doesn't seem to be communicating with the linkage on the right. I'm wondering if I'm missing a spring or if something isn't set up right?

Thanks for your help.

That's the choke; it doesn't open with the throttle. It's opened by linkage connected to the bimetallic thermostatic spring in the choke thermostat.

Its the choke, its electrically operated, so the linkage from the accelerator doesn't move the choke other than it will close the choke butterfly when cold if you press the accelerator to the floor once before starting. As the engine warms up the electric choke will automatically open...that is if it is working properly LOL.

Look down inside the hole and you will see the two butterfly valves that are controlled by the throttle cable.

And the choke is operated by the big cylinderical thing on the passenger side of the carb with one wire plugged into it (with the 90* connecter in your pic)

They operate with less than 12v to open about the same time as your engine warms up. Throw 12v at it like the guy that had my truck before me and it will be very coldblooded because the choke will open way too fast.
