Yes, I'm being "That Guy." I'm looking at buying a used car, and would like to know if anyone has an open Car Fax account and is willing to look up a VIN for me.

It's a Buick Roadmaster. I'm sorry Ford guys, but you just can't get anything made by Ford that's comparable. Thanks!

Your sig says 253,000 miles on your ranger, but nothing is comparable?:icon_confused:

Nope. You can't get a Ford car or truck that will tow 5000 lbs and get 25mpg highway. If I could get a full size truck that did that, I wouldn't be looking at a 14 year old car. I'd be looking at an F-150.

Don't get me wrong, I love my truck and wouldn't sell it. I just would like something I can drive to work everyday and get decent fuel economy.

When I said "nothing from Ford that's comparable" I was talking about Crown Vics and similar cars. The Vics, Town Cars and Mercury do not have the towing capacity of the Roadmaster. I want to be able to tow our boat and haul the family at the same time AND get good mileage driving to work everyday (THANK YOU to the federal government and CAFE for legislating big V8 RWD cars virtually out of existance, and no the Charger and G8 don't count). And who am I kidding? I'd love to have a car with an LT1.

lol. You're killin me John! Get a Supercrew 08 F150. We get good gas mileage, not 25 mpg...but it's still good. Very comfortable for road trips too.

An '08 Ford F-150 4x4 EPA numbers:

13 city / 17 highway

A '95 Roadmaster EPA numbers:

15 city / 25 highway
I don't think you are going to get 25mpg with no tow, much less dragging 5000 lbs, and a full family along with belongings. The 15mpg would be more reasonable. Plus, the trans is not built to handle heavy loads, and the higher rear gear will be harder on the trans. My daughter has a 92, and it gets about 12mpg. It's throttle body, and the EFIs get a little better, but not that much.:)shady

We don't have a 4x4 F150, it's 2wd. And we got about 18-19 on I-95 from NC to FL, and that was doing 80-85 mph.

dont they have a new f150 that gets 21mpg?

One, it doesn't seem like I'm going to convince some people here what I'm doing is best for me.

Two, I'm not going to be towing all the time. Once on the weekends through the summer. The rest of the time, I'm commuting, and I'm going to be able to get much better mileage with a car then I will with a truck. My dad had a '92 Roadmaster, and it got around 22 MPG in everyday driving. My ranger won't top 18 in everyday driving, 21 in the absolute best freeway conditions.

Three, I'll never get a 4 door Ford F-150with 26,000 miles for less then $15,000, I'm going to get this Roadmaster for less then $7500 with 26,000 miles. And I wouldn't buy a 2 wheel drive truck while living in Michigan. Did that once, and I'll never have another 2wd truck in this state. Personal preference. And yes, the RWD Roadmaster handles better in the snow then a 2WD Ranger.

Four, I'm not buying a new vehicle. Not in the cards. I love my Ranger to death (hence the fact that I've kept it for so long and used it so much), but I'm getting too old to be putting up with as much as I am.

A appreciate the concern, but I'm doing what I think is best for my situation. Thank you.
