can't open my hood

Help I have an 89 ranger and I can't open the hood. Any suggestions the cable is intact it just won't release the latch.

You might have a friend hold the latch back in the cab while you thump on the hood with the palms of your hands, that will usually do it. Sometimes they get a little sticky and don't release the way they should.

After that you should clean and relube the latch mechanism so it doesn't keep doing it.

did u try spraying wd40 on the latch it self

silicone lube it come in a spray can we use it for are crane truck at work on the boom sections . i use it for my door ,hood any thing that moves you need to do it once o month . but the thing about this stuff
is it doesn't collect dirt and grime like grease does. i like it . clean all surfaces good first or it do not work.
