I own a 2010 FX4 V6 4.0L with 4.10 gears that is all i know. Now the problem is my door code says i have an open diff 8.8" ring gear, but the manual says i have to put limited slip oil in the rear diff, soooo we did some tests one no brake peelout on the pavement from a stop two patches even all the way. Second doughnuts in the mud there was two rooster tails and had a friend watch from out side the truck to confirm, Third had truck in hard flex to the point were one tire was almost off the ground one wheel was spinning tire with most resistance. I dont really want to open the diff cause the truck only has 10K on it but i would like to know what the hell is in it (and also wondering if i have the 31 spline pinion) any help on this would be great thank you for your time

P.S all test done when i turn off TC in 2 wheel, also when in four low when truck was high centered all four tires were turning, I left it in gear and got out to look.
:dunno: :icon_cheers:

There was no limited slip option in 2010, traction control took its place. Its an open diff.

so the next question is will the 2002 FX4 diff fit in my housing then ill have the 31 spline pinion with the torsen LS

I know you should already have 31 spline AXLES, but you refer to the pinion so I dunno what to say about that.......And by diff you mean carrier? Sounds like you want to swap a torsen carrier from an '02 in your rear axle correct?

I don't know for sure, others will though: Depending on how the "traction control" is achieved swapping a torsen in might be troublesome, as if its controlled by computer then you have torsen and electronically controlled traction control and your driving experience may vary. Let others chime in about this though before taking my word for it, as my word is just an observation that I perceive.

wow i feel like a dumb ass oh well im new to the scene so you only learn by asking questions and from what ive heard forums are the only way to go when asking thanks for the info. What would be the best way to go in your opinion L.S aftermarket of Locker keep in mind it is a daily driver but i do wheel on the weekends:icon_hornsup:

You bought a 2010 to wheel on the weekends?

IMO the only way to go if you want to wheel is a locker. You can puck up an Aussie locker for your axle for about $260. I imagine it will mess with traction control though if you lock it while turning..

for now I did but it will be my full blown 4X4 soon enough does anyone have an opinion on a Lockright kit?

Nothing wrong with a Lock-Right but an Aussie Locker is cheaper, quality is as good or better and in my personal experience, it's smoother too.
