well im currently overseas and bought an american spec 2009 sport 4x4. only reason i got the sport over the FX4 is because AAFES didnt have any in europe and i needed a vehicle (they were the same price). after doing some research i have choosen to go with a prekey mod and a body lift, BUT i cant find a body lift anywhere for a 2009. my question is can the 2008 PA BL fit my 2009. also is there any alternitve means of releasing the tension on the torsion bars with out using that expensive tool that NOBODY in italy has. does anyone have pics of there level or lifted 2009. oh if anyone is thinkin about gettin a 2009, get the 4.10 gear. my 3.73 is a turd in 4low. has zero power and tourqe. 4high is 100 times better. just thought id let yall know.

Welcome to the club.

98 + rangers are the same so you’re good. Drop the key thing not a great idea you can lift the front end for free by cranking your torsion bars (no more then 1.5 to 2")

The following like will answer most questions you have. And check out the technical library as well.

you can see by this pic that the front is way lower in the front. almost 2 inches lower that pre 2008 models.

I'm not sure way that is but the 08 is an inch lower then the 07. I wouldn’t be surprised if it's Fords way of getting better gas mileage out of their trucks. What is your Plan for the truck?

well im shipping it back to the states in december so id like to add a PA body lift, TT, lineX bedliner, true duel delta 40 flowmaster, and of course black wheels and 31 in tires. i would like to 4 inch superlift it oneday. girl frind has a 2009 jeep so ill have two project goin on. did you 2008 come with those crappy RT/S 255/70r16s on it. i hate those tires. they dont clean and they hold rocks. every time i drive over some gravel i get rock tick until i stop and pick out the rocks. alot of people say that ford lowered the front ends for better handling but my buddies 2005 with TT handles better than mine. i was so close to gettin the 3ince level keys. everything i have read on here as convinced me other wise.

As far as keys go, just pick up a set of stock keys from 07 or older. Swap those in and you'll have same height adjustments as the rest of us.

Edit: and pick up rear blocks from same years too. Think the 09's are smaller.

i convinced a friend to swap me keys. he wants to lower his 2005. gona do that when i get the 7,500 mile tune up that is gona cost me 500 euro (damn itialians). oil change, balance, rotating, and allignment. high way robery but since im under warrenty i cant get around it.

Now your talken!!! get the keys and the blocks if possible then when the times right crank the torsion bars add the PA body lift replace your stock shackles with a set of Belltech 6400 shackles (they are 2" longer) and add a leaf to your stack. Then Rock out a set of 33/12.5/15's. :icon_hornsup:

Ya I pulled the stock tires off about 4 minutes after I drove off the lot…just long enough to get me to the closest BridgeStone store.

damn! sounds like you should hav e done all possible to get the FX4 instead. it has pertty much everything you want and all you would have to do is crank the torsion bars!

Ya if I had my time back I would have gone with the FX4.....I don't know what I was thinking. :annoyed:

well i wanted to but i have to either order tired off line and pay 140 bucks shipping or pay for them on the european ecnomy either way ill be taking it up the rear. but in december ill be picking her up in charelston SC and takign her straight to my buddys tire shop in asheville NC and he is hooking me up. but i have a 4 inch long arm rubicon express lift sittin my basement that my girlfriend bought for her 2009 wrangler and she fronted the bill for the tires too. so i got a nice project when her car finally gets here. i wanted the FX4 but they didnt have any instock and i couldnt find an american anywhere in europe lookin to sell one.

The keys you are thinking of are BAD. He is referring to the Pre-Key mod. If you pick up a set of keys for an older Ranger they will bring the front up as if it were the height of mine. Ford decided to swap keys and lower the 4x4's for some reason. Stupid if you ask me.

^^Yup!!

'08+ Torsion keys are clocked to lower the truck approx 1.75-2". The rear blocks are only 1.25 or 1.5"(can't remember at this time). 07 and older 4x4's got 2.5" blocks. 07 and older 2wd Torsion bar trucks got 2" blocks. Seriously....'08 4x4's are just a skotch taller than a 2wd coilsprung truck if the 4x4 has the 15" wheels. The 16" wheel equipped trucks are just slightly taller. First time I saw an 08 4x4 in person, I literally got underneeth it and confirmed that it had a front axle and tcase! lol.

Like said before, any BL for a 98+ will fit any 98+ truck. I suggest picking up the SummitRacing.com Bodylift kit. Priced at about $150 compared to $250 for the PA(Performance Accesories) kit. On the '08 I bodylifted, the only difference I found was the fuel filler vent tube. It was like 1/4" or 5/16" whereas the BL kit comes with like 3/8 or 7/16"....something like that. That problem is cured with a short trip to Home Depot for a couple of hose barbs, clamps, and some rubber hose.

Ya if I had my time back I would have gone with the FX4.....I don't know what I was thinking. :annoyed:

LOL! SO TRUE!! I couldn't find my '03 twinstick Fx4 in my price range and mileage range......so I built my '01 into '03 twinstick Fx4 spec clone! Only thing on the truck that's stock to my truck is the body and frame! lol.

i just went outside to double check and my 09 4wd does not have blocks in the back. im not sure if thats because i have a towing package or because ford didnt put any on the 2009. can somone look and see how leafs they have on there 07 or older. i hear the chevy shackels will give me another inch or so. im saving for the superlift but it dosent come with any rear lift. i guess i could do the shackels and a 2 inch block. also i have decided to wait for the 35 inch tires after the lift due to the 3.73 gearing. once i get a hold of a set of 4.10s then ill slap the body lifft and 35s.

I guarantee your '09 4x4 has blocks....

Your set up is EXACTLY like 07 and older, except it's got a 1.25 or 1.5" block instead of the older model 2.5" block. Believe me, you have blocks. If you don't have blocks, you don't have a 4x4....

Superlift complete kit does come with a rear lift, but I'd not even run it. I'd only run the rear shocks. Get yourself an AAL(add-a-leaf) and a set of Belltech 6400 shackles. Both get you approx 1.5" of lift, totaling in 3" of lift. Superlift kit comes with 3" blocks to stack ontop ofyour existing blocks. EFF THAT! I sure as hell wasn't going to stack blocks!

To fit 35's comfortably, you'll need the Superlift, a bodylift, the prekey mod. And if you plan on 35's, steer the hell clear of 4.10's, you'll want a minimum of 4.56 but I suggest 4.88.

POST PICS!!!
