Can two 10's beat two 12's

Yes, there are waayy too many factors on the loose here to give a clear yes or no.

I remember my first system, 200w rms single channel Rockford Fosgate amp and a pair of RF Punch Z 12" subs in a car audio box stuffed behind the seats of my Ranger... stock speakers in the truck and stock am/fm/cd player...

And my buddy being mad because my system sounded louder and better than his... Sony Xplod head unit, Sony Xplod speakers, Bazooka 300 watt amp and a pair of 12" Alpine subs in a car box all tucked in a Caviler. He was soo mad he got a bigger amp (supposedly 400 w rms 2 channel), Pioneer speakers, and a Pioneer cd player and moved his system to an Eagle Talon.

And I got a Pioneer cd player and a 900w rms two channel RF amp... so I still had him beat, LMAO!

all just depends on quality of the system and how it is set up, period. My single ARC12 in a 1.5cf ported probox smokes my friend at works 2 15" Pyle subs. Im running the alpine M500 hes got some offbrand 2000watt amp.

Pyle subs are named appropriately, as in pyle of crap!

you also gotta look at the size of the car and where the subs are facing with all the other stuff. one 10 in a regular cab will sound alot louder and if tuned better and cleaner than the same setup in a extended cab with a down fire box and the seats down.

my 2 cent's it dose depend on what your going for too. for the most part. if your want a more punch style bass the smaller the sub the more the punch. but if you want a deeper bass the go with something bigger. you also have to look at the magnet size. you can have 2 10"subs. and one can sound better. in my car i have 2 10" subs with 10 lbs magnets they hit hard and sound awesome. but i have a friend that has the same thing just smaller magnets and it dose not sound as good. i like 10" over the other, but that is my opinion.

Yeah my one shallow mount 10" kicker hits pretty hard on my regular cab. Can't wait to put another one.

lol i have had some pretty wild stereos in my truck and you still can beat to 2 10" or 2 12" but its about the quality because i listen to really heavy metal like heaven shall burn, slayer, and lamb of god and play it really really loud and because of the fast bass notes the sub can't keep up the bigger the sub gets and i found this guy who had 1 10" arch audio sub and kicked this dude ass with 2 12" jl sub all while playing slipknot!!!The jl subs could not keep up the bass notes because of how fast and how loud the music was being played!!!!!!!!!

For those who don't know who or what the music sound like here you go!!!!!

there are many 15" subs that will keep up with anything (Adire Brahma,IDMAX,REXXX,etc..) it just depends on the sub itself and the box its in.

Bigger subs are just louder (higher efficiency) and need a bigger box.

yea my buddy had 2 ten'' memphis subs on a pioneer 760watt amp and it was louder than my other buddys powerbass 12''s on a 600 watt amp. but ive also seen one 12 louder than 2 10s. my kicker l5 runnin on a ma 1000 watt competion amp is louder than my buddys two mtx tens on a 800 watt sony amp. im only runnin 500 rms at 4ohms, but the amp will run 1000 rms on 2 ohms. the box takes up the whole extended cab of my ranger.

yes i have 10s in my ranger and my sister has 12s in her ecplise and i kill here everytime and she is even running a fosgate amp and she has the hatchback trunk withc i hear helps the sound

two months later still shaking my head at this entire debate:annoyed:

What have i created?

the continuation of a debate were no one brings practical evidence to support any claim, other then saying noooo to the OP due to laws of physics

hey i got 1 10in cvr put in my ranger for x-mas and it is only running a 300 wat amp but the way the box is built makes it sound a lot better and louder than you would think.....it even suprised me. airspace is the biggest key with boxes.
