im a new member and i have tryed every site ...... i just did a motor swap 4.0 to 4.0 stroker a few weeks ago and now its starting to sputter and over heat when i get on the gas the check engine light well come on and go off.my frends say it could be a fuel problem like its running lean ...... and others say blowin head gasket i hope thats not the case

If its a blown head gasket you will have oil in your coolant. I would look at ignition before fuel. If you dont have a fuel pressure gage to test it, Take a small screw driver and push the schrader valve . It looks like a valve from a bicycle and is on the fuel rail. If you have a fuel problem only a small amount of fuel will come out. If it squirts out with some pressure then its probably not a fuel issue. Look at the spark plugs as well. If they smell like gas and are wet then fuel is not your problem.

are the overheat symptoms obvious or just the guages? is it OBD I or II ? Did you richen it up -sorry not too familiar with a 4.0 stroker? suggest a block test for HYDRO CARBONS in RADIATOR.KEEP US POSTED-GOOD LUCK and welcome to the boards

thanks

the water and oil are not mixing but it could still be blown i guess from what i have herd .the truck did sit for like a year. i changed the TPS,idle air controle ,air flow sensor, and coil and still dose the sputtering thing.the motor suposet be ported and polished forged pistons and also camed.so im told it also has a new radiator and water pump and thermastat but im not running coolant just water and its rusty as hell. can the radiator be clogged up maybe?
im trying to get this thing going be for king of the hammers.me and my buddys r out of ideas

try back flushing the cooling system . Running straight water isnt a good idea this time of year.
