So sadley I can not do a 302 due to time frame and wanting to wheel this summer.
So I have the the stuff to do a 4.0 swap but don't know if this will work.
OK can get a 91 with a 4.0 bad auto. Will that year swap in my 97 with 3.0 I know I got to change wireing harness but pretty simple, just computer and engine wireing? Or is something not with the years. Also bad trans. Hopeing I can find a 5spd pretty cheap but if not I have a good 4r44e trans. What is it to swap from a manual to a auto? I got aftermarket shifter so no need to change Colum. Thank you all in adave.

After you cross that OBDII barrier things are much easier the closer you stay to your own year, and much much harder trying to go back down to EEC-IV. I would not try with a 91 to a 97.

the motor it self will work. as long as you get a harness and all the required sensors for a 96 newer engine you will be fine.... basically from the fuel rail up.
