Can I just use a T5?

My trans blew a while back and I finally have the $ for repairs.

I've looked in my area for a stock replacement 5spd and I can't locate one I feel comfortable buying. Either they dunno if it works, or it has a brazillion miles on it.

I do however have multiple sources for T5's.

Can I simply use a T5 with the stock Ranger clutch setup? Is there a specific T5 I have to use?

I've tried the search feature and can't find and answer to my specific question.

I know there are many on here that can

probably give you part numbers even for a swap like that. Assuming you have a 2.3L block and the usual bell for a2.3L and a matching t-5..as long as you are prepared for the different shift tower location...which i understand is farther back that the usual m50.

If the bell is hydraulic...it will be external slave so you will need to get the converter to attach the master cyl...(Russel #640281 i bleave)..and a xmember/driveline etc...

if you like and trust a t-5...go for it i would say...if ur prepared for the above issues...

I've heard it discussed a lot..and have access to one myself..but i also have the ability to fix an m50..so haven't considered it myself..(I also am interested in 4wd versions..and that is more spendy in a T-5 done right i guess)....

t-5's seem to be popular with the more power crowd for sure..

about the t-5 to buy..they came in T-bird t-coupes i know...

actually the 2.3 t-5 from a mustang is the same used in the 5.0 mustangs just different bell housing. best trans to use is the 87-88 thunderbird turbo coupe trans. since they r hydraulic operated to begin with.
