When swapping the 2.9s between trucks the fuel system and your distbutor wiring have the same conetion are the same and will plug in together and make a simple motor swap vary complicated

huh?

my head hurts now .......

Ok sorry not the best at explaining but on my 89 4x4 5 speed ranger when I pull my motor I just unhooked all the electrical thinking that the plug connections would be color coded and wouldn't fit together but the connection for the distbutor and the plug for the injectors are both gray and are close in the wiring harness and they fit together and every thing I read lead to a distbutor problem never to think that all the money and time I spent getting a new distbutor put in then changed the coil when all I need to do was swap the connections

yeah i still don't know what you're talking about... what does you putting in a new distributor have to do with the fact that you don't know what plugs in where? if you knew where the old one goes, that's where the new one goes... if you don't know where the old one goes, who the hell cares when you bought it?

why does this need to be stickied?

simple solution to this problem, it's called masking tape, it's a great thing to put on any wiring you disconnect... i believe that this is something we refer to as a "self correcting problem" ie, it won't happen again, now will it?

3 solutions to your current state, if i understand what you managed to do, which i don't think i do...

first, plug them in which ever way you want, start the truck, 1 of 3 things will happen... 1) the truck will run, you hooked it up right, 50% chance this happens 2) motor will turn over but no fire, no harm ho foul, 25% chance this will happen or 3) something goes BOOM/sizzle/smoke or some other combination of electrical mayhem... 25% chance this happens...

second solution... trace the wires for each connector back, inside the loom, and find where they go and determine what should be connected those components

third solution, pull up a wiring schematic for your truck, there's millions of them on this site, a quick search will find the one you're looking for, and look at the colors on the wires you have in the truck, and the wires on the schematic...

And PUNCTUATION really helps everyone trying to read your prattle.

Weezle, sorry for #$!@&ing with your original post.

i has had punctuation in there but some dingbat took it out! gawd damn bowden people!

OH!!!!!!! :D lol

Your right masking tape would have helped but this was the 3ed time I had the motor out of the truck and never had a problem but when you troubleshoot what's wrong it makes it look like that you don't have a fuel problem cause the distbutor wiring opens the injectors and makes the plugs wet which make it seem like you don't have a wiring problem which is why I when and bought a distbutor and coil so sorry for something that I think might help someone else sorry if you could never make a simple mistake and get triped up on something simple

i'm not sure i'd say its sticky worthy, but i'm sure if you did it... someone else might in the future or has in the past... best advice i can say is to label stuff. do i label it? no... but i tell other people they should! lol.

The fuel rail connetions miht be different. I just replaced the rail and regultor. Im not sure if it's een wht you're gettin at

wow, you should go and get defensive for me telling you about something you should have done... you also shouldn't use ANY punctuation (now i get what Richard was getting at) you should also not do any of the things i told you to do

probably shouldn't start trolling forums in your first month and first 20 posts...
