let me start out with ive always heard letting your car run out of gas will damage the fuel pump, but never heard the same about running it on empty... you think this would be common knowledge seeing as how sooooo many people do that.

well my truck has been having problems starting as of recently. I thought it was the battery or alternator at first, troubleshooted that and went and got a tuneup, etc.

well as of 2 days ago my truck shit out on me. I Stopped to get food and when i tried to start again, the engine turned on but sputtered out. I tried to start it a few more times and it didnt start. waited 45 min to try and start it again and it turned on, but then died again. called a tow truck and he banged on the fuel line and it still didnt start. now my truck is in the driveway and i believe it has a dead fuel pump

think it could be anything other than a dead fuel pump?

also can it be pushstarted? cuase i met a chick who said she could fixit for me but i need to get it to her house

You may have sucked up something that got stuck in the fuel filter. It's cheap and easy to do even if that's not the problem.

Energising?

Can you here the pump "HUMM" when you turn the key on? If not it's probably your pump or the relay under the hood but if your getting spark im leaning towards the pump or clogged filter and NO push starting would be a waste o time IMHO:icon_welder:

if you can hear the fuel pump running, check for fuel at the rail.
make sure the inertia switch didn't get tripped.

okay, yeah, running the truck is probably not the best idea when you're on empty. So, you drove it on empty and now you're having problems with it running at all... I'd say put some gas in the tank and see if that makes any difference at all...

can someone recommend a good guide for replacing the fuel pump?

I also read its easier to just remove the bed and replace the pump from the top

you asked for advice->people gave you advice->you never gave any feedback to the advice->:icon_confused:

I would make sure your MAF sensor is good first, and also clean the IAC valve... Don't change your fuel pump if your not 100% sure it's the cause..
