Hi all! I'm a new member and need help.
I have a 1994 Ford Ranger with V6, 4.0L (244 CID); OHV 12V; EFI motor.
My truck has been running a bit rough for a while now - the main complaint (among others) is it "Bucks" or "misses" when I get to 45 mph. Sometimes roughly, and sometimes slightly, but always noticable.
I have bought a camshaft position sensor (CPS) from Auto Zone to change that out to see if it will help - only the sensor, not the synchronizer assy (I have already changed out the MAF, Air Filter, PCV valve, fuel filter, plugs, and wires).
My problem is - I can't seem to find the CPS!
My Haynes Book says "....Not all models require a camshaft position sensor..."
Can anyone tell me how I know if my model requires the CPS?
And if it does, where it might be.

Thanks - VaBoy (aka Russ)

If it's a federal emissions vehicle, just go return the part before you even open the box. They only exist on california models.

Feel around in the center of the engine behind the intake. The CPS is back there. If you only feel a flat circle just raised above the block a hair you don't have a CPS. If you grab something, you do.

Your issue is probably ignition related, not a bad sensor.
