Autozone sells them "WITH" and WITHOUT" step on plug. The two look identical, so what is the difference. It could be a misprint as they call the part a crankshaft position sensor.

on the 3.0 it is called the crankshaft postion sensor, even tho in reality its a camshaft position sensor. your looking at the correct part, i cant help you as ive never had to change one just kno the correct terminology and placement. countless threads in the 3.0 forum on them fig i could relay you to the correct one for your problem.

The only problem I have is that Autozone sells TWO different ones. One "with step on plug" and one "without step on plug". What is the difference between the two. When you examine the two side by side, they are identical. Neither the website or the store computer gives a distinction between the two.

Well if they are identical.. then just getcha one and be about your business..

On the outside they are the same, at least looking at them. However I do not know about the internals. I think I will look at NAPA as they do not have this issue. I have found quite a few Autozone parts misrepresented or just inferior, so it might be best to move on to someplace else.

I know for the Cardone cam synchro I emailed them and asked and they sent me this:

" The difference is:
(with step on plug) 30-S2600 has a step in the plug
(without step on plug) 30--S2600L does not have a step in the step inside the plug
Note: 30-S2600L can be used for both applications"

so i would say get the "without step on plug" to be on the safe side.
