Camshaft position sensor location

Where is the camshaft position sensor located on a 1998 Ranger - 2.5l 4 cyl?
I pulled off the intake manifold to look "on top of the engine block, behind the intake manifold near the firewall" but I can't see anything resembling the sensor.

on a 2.5 it's where the distributor would be, on the drivers side basically by the #2 cylinder a few inches above the oil pan

It was there on the pre 95,s but after that they were on the side of the oil pump housing.Two bolts,pull out and replace.( Still looking for a chip for 2.5 98 manual)
