I am taking a week in late AUG early SEP and would like to go to woods within 100 miles ,like liberty wa. as we have never been there and is not some place we would normally go like elbe, tahuya, evans creek.plan is like day 1 drive to campsite plan next day ,open fire cooking and tents real old school stuff . day 2 wheel make vids day 3 repeat. day 4 pack up,wash us and trucks then come back. add some geo cacheing too. as always all are welcome and since we will be away from support we won't be CRAZY WHEELIN" just exploring and 6 or 7 tenths kind of stuff

I might be able to meet up there, I have a buddy that lives in liberty and the trails are anywhere from easy to impossible. keep me posted.

Mind if a noob tags along?

I've never done any real off roading and I've decided that it may be a better hobby than chasing chicks. I'll be replacing the V8 in my 83 Ranger next week. Other than that it's pretty much stock.

YOU ARE MORE THAN WELCOME ! I plan on staying to the easy and more difficult (if its dry they are all a little easier) no crazy stuff as Ive got to drive home afterword .have you wheeled it yet?

Nah, Haven't wheeled it yet.

I got the truck knowing it was going to be a project. Previous owner said it only had a charging system problem. That's an easy fix, just put in a 1 wire alternator. As I was driving it home only a few miles there was a nasty smoke screen behind me. The sealant between the back of the intake manifold and block had come out so oil was pouring out and on to the exhaust. So I fixed those items and it started having brake dragging issues. Replaced all the brakes. I was finally able to take it for a longer drive and the sound of excessive bearing clearance became evident. I'm going to be swapping in the fresh engine week after next up in Oak Harbor. Then I'll be driving it down to Arlington OR where I'm working. I don't think there is anything left to break. We'll see. You know the name of the camp site?

was kinda hopin for some input from CHAZZAWAZZAL or his friend

there is a campground right in the town of liberty. i'm not sure of the name but you cant miss it. its right off the side of the paved road and it connects with a bunch of trails. there is a creek nearby and nice campsites that i think will be fairly empty by then and i'm pretty sure you can have fires there year long. i wouldnt be able to spend a week but probably the weekend.

i do not plan to stay more than 3 nights myself

Engine swap last week was a success!

Drove it from Oak Harbor WA to Arlington OR with no significant drama. Screaming at 2700 rpm though. I see an AOD swap in the not too distant future. Managed about 14 MPG on stock size tires and 0 tuning. It's running pretty rich. I went back to sniff the exhaust (to check for richness) and damn near burned my eyes out.

WE ARE NO-GO! No one else could come and I was not going 100 miles from home to a strange place -watch for NEW PLAN
